Identifying Dsylexia

Identifying the signs of dyslexia in your child may be challenging. We are here to help. Depending on your needs, we offer three options to assist with determining if your child shows signs of dyslexia.

Identifying Dyslexia

Option 1: Dyslexia Screener

We offer a screener to identify students in grades K-12, who are at risk for dyslexia, and provide recommendations based on the results.

Option 2: Dyslexia Assessment

This assessment will help determine if your child fits the dyslexia profile and has weaknesses in the areas listed in the research-based definition of dyslexia. The assessment includes an in-depth records review, examination of current schoolwork samples, information shared during the parent interview, and the administration of 8 informal evaluation tools. Results of this assessment also include recommendations for tutoring and classroom accommodations.

Option 3: Comprehensive Psychoeducational Evaluation

A comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation is a process by which an A Plus Learning Solutions School Psychologist works with the child and those involved in the child’s learning and development to identify the child’s academic and behavioral strengths and weaknesses with the goal to create targeted interventions to help the child be as successful as possible. The evaluation provides a profile of a child’s cognitive ability, academic levels, and social-emotional patterns of functioning through structured interviews, standardized assessments, and rating scales. This evaluation may be helpful in the diagnosis of dyslexia.
